Catmull-Clark Surface
From LightWiki
A type of surface subdivision scheme that works with N-gons and edge weighting introduced to LightWave 3D 9.0. It tends to pinch less than Subdivision Surfaces when deformed. Unlike LightWave's native SubD patches, the number you enter into Modeler options is not the number of polygons made to cover each patch in both directions, but rather an exponential amount so that the same amount of subdivision can occur with CC subpatches as SubDs at a much lower level. It's very unlikely you will need to put this at a high level unlike with SubDs where it is fairly common to ask for 10 or more subdivisions.
