If you are on a Mac and you used the Window Configure tool in Layout, you might find that you see the following every time you start LightWave:

The solution is simple. Find your LightWave preferences files. They should be in the user:library:preferences folder and you're particularly looking for a file called Lightwave8 window config. Delete this file and all will be well again.
