Vista's virtual store redirects files away from the traditional C:\Program Files place where LightWave sits by default. LightWave does not recognise the Virtual Store so there are two things that can be done. One is to install LightWave in a non-traditional location (I would suggest C:\NewTek\LightWavev9.5 or whatever version it is), the other is to temporarily turn off UAC. To do this, open your control panel and just type UAC. You don't need to click anywhere to do it. This will open up a window asking if you want to leave your computer unprotected by turning off UAC, but you only need to do it for registering LightWave. This will require a reboot of the system. Alternatively, you can hit the Windows-r keyboard shortcut, type "msconfig" and go to the Tools tab in the window presented and select Disable UAC

Then you can load Layout (with the red icon) go to the Help menu and choose Enter License. Once you have pasted your license.key number in (16 digits, with dashes between each four like so: 1234-5678-9012-3456) and restarted LightWave you can turn UAC back on.

Durch Vistas virtuelle Verzeichnisse werden Dateien die nach "C:\Programme" geschrieben werden an anderer Stelle auf die Festplatte geschrieben. Da LightWave nicht daran angepasst ist, führt dies zu Problemen beim Speichern der LightWave Aktivierung die wie folgt gelöst werden können:

1. Möglichkeit

Sie installieren LightWave in einem anderen Verzeichniss, z.B. C:\NewTek\LightWaveV9.5. Dadurch greifen die virtuellen Verzeichnissen nicht und LightWave kann die Lizenzierungsdatei speichern und auch wieder laden.

2. Möglichkeit

Sie deaktivieren kurzfristig den Benutzerkontenschutz (UAC). Dazu gehen Sie bitte wie folgt vor: Gehen Sie im Start Menü von Vista auf Ausführen.... Geben Sie

msconfig

ein und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste.

Im Tools Bereich ist die Option Benutzerkontoschutz deaktivieren, diese bitte aktivieren. Nach einem Neustart kann die Seriennummer in LightWave eingegeben werden. Danach könne Sie auf dem gleichen Weg den Benutzerontenschutz wieder aktivieren.

La prima consiste nell'installare Lightwave in una directory differente (ad esempio C:\NewTek\LightWavev9.5, in relazione alla versione installata), la seconda è disabilitare temporaneamente il Controllo Account Utente. Per farlo basta aprire il Pannello di Controllo e cliccare su Account Utente, poi su Attiva o disattiva Controllo account utente. Si aprirà una finestra che chiede se si vuole lasciare il cmputer sprotetto disabiltando il Controllo Account Utente. La procedura è necessaria solo per la registrazione di Lightwave. Sarà richiesto un reboot del sistema.

In seguito sarà possibile caricare il Layout (usando l'icona rossa), e selezionare Enter License dal menu Help. Un volta incollato il license.key (sedici cifre, separate dal segno meno a gruppi di quattro, es: 1234-5678-9012-3456 ) e fatto ripartire Lightwave, sarà possibile riattivare il Controllo account utente.

LightWave ne gérant pas le "Virtual Store", il existe plusieurs solutions pour contourner ce problème : La première consiste à installer LightWave dans un chemin différent (comme par exemple C:\NewTek\LightWavev9.5 ou quelque version que ce soit). La seconde consiste à désactiver temporairement le Contrôle de compte d'utilisateur (UAC).

Pour cela, il suffit d'ouvrir le panneau de configuration, et de taper UAC pour y accéder. Cela ouvre une requête demandant si l'on souhaite vraiment laisser l'ordinateur sans protection en désactivant l'UAC. Cette opération, nécessaire uniquement le temps d'enregistrer LightWave, nécessite un redémarrage de l'ordinateur. Une autre méthode consiste à utiliser le raccourci clavier "Windows-r" et de taper "msconfig" avant d'aller dans l'onglet "Outils" du panneau qui vient de s'ouvrir pour sélectionner "Désactiver le Contrôle de compte d'utilisateur". Ensuite, il suffit de lancer le Layout (icône rouge) et d'aller dans le menu "help" pour sélectionner "Enter License".
