Description
Allows you to create an unwrapped UV map from your mesh.
Installation
Open the Plugins panel, and select 'Add Plugins'. Browse to the directory in which the plugin resides and select it. The plugin will appear in the Additional plugins list.
Usage
The basic idea is to imagine trying to slice your object along seams, and then laying it out flat, ready to paint on. This plugin allows you to mark the seams, click 'Make UV' to see how well it spreads out, then change the seams and repeat if desired. It's best to use this plugin with the Numeric Panel open, as it has a lot of options.
Edge Selection
- UV Map - Allows you to choose which UV map to make the new UV's in.
- Select - You can select your seams either using edges or points. If you select Edges, you can toggle edges to be seams (highlighted in blue) by clicking on them, or click on a seam to turn it off. In points mode, you can LMB-click a point to make it a start point. If you then MMB-click another point on the mesh, the plugin tries to find a route from the start point to the end point, and make the edges taken by that route as seams. It then makes the end point a new start point. By this method, it is quite quick to mark seams.
- Undo Selection - Undoes the last selection. If you're in point selection mode, it'll deselect the last edge route marked. If your edge route doesn't go the way you expect, or would like, you can use this to go back to the previous point, and then MMB-click a point closer to where you think the route should go.
- Advance Edge - Tries to extend the selection along the last edge selected, till it can't determine which route to go. This can be used to make an edge loop as a seam.
- Hide Handle - Selecting by edges, you have to click near the middle of the edge. Turning this off, explicitly shows you where to click on edges to select them.
- Ignore backface - Forbids picking of edges which point away from you.
- Advance Threshold Angle - This limits advancing the edge selection by this angle. So if an edge is greater than this angle from the previous edge, the edge advance will stop.
- Edge Data- Allows you to save the seams as a file, for later use.
- Save Edge- Used in conjunction with Edge Data.
- Load Edge- Used in conjunction with Edge Data.
Atlas Seam Marking
- Make Atlas from Surface - Marks all Surface borders as seams.
- Make Atlas from UV - Marks the previous UV borders as seams.
- Make Atlas - Uses the Advance Edge Threshold to try to mark seams in a smart way to minimise distortion.
- Divide by Surface - This will use all Surface borders as seams, irrespective of whether they have been marked or not.

Process
- Make UV - Performs the operation.
- Make UV Fast - Performs the operation, but without some of the accuracy of the other method to speed things up.

- Relaxation Iteration - This relaxes the unwrap to smooth out the skin. The higher the value, the more smooth the unwrap will be, but it will be less comparable to the relative polygon size of the mesh.
