Procedural textures on UV maps
From LightWiki
Use Textured Filter on an image applied to the UV of the surface. Make sure it's a blank image otherwise it will still be in the background of your procedural texture and also bear in mind that the resolution of the image dictates the resolution of the procedural - that's to say that if you use that 10x10 ImageWorld concealer mentioned here you will only get a very blocky procedural.
If you are using LightWave v9 and above, you can use nodes to directly surface your object with procedural textures without this workaround.
